Banana (Mai‘a)

Banana parfait

Get ready for layers of yum! This banana parfait mixes creamy yogurt, crunchy granola, and sweet local bananas for a tasty treat that keiki will love to build and eat. Perfect for snack time or a quick dessert, it’s a fun (and ono!) way to enjoy local flavors!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 apple banana

  • 1/2 cup of plain yogurt

  • 1/4 cup granola

  • 1 teaspoon honey

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Have keiki peel the banana.

  • With a plastic or butter knife, demonstrate and guide them to cut the banana into slices.

  • In a clear cup or container, have keiki layer half of each of the ingredients: first yogurt, then granola, then banana slices.

  • Repeat to form a second layer, then drizzle honey on top. Enjoy!

TIPS:

  • Try to find local bananas (often smaller and sweeter than imported bananas), granola, and honey. Explain to keiki that these foods came from farms and businesses in Hawai‘i.

  • For an extra special treat, top with rainbow sprinkles.
